July 4th Thank_you.

July 4th, 2011 was the 235th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. 235 years!!! Not bad for an idea supported by a piece of paper.

But what an idea! I hope you read the Declaration of Independence. I know I have committed to reading it again. http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters/constitution.html

Several years ago,in support of the ideals that we celebrate on the 4th of July, our church group took a year to prepare Janeen Brady’s “Take Your Hat Off, When the Flag Goes By," musical. http://www.britemusic.com/janeen-brady/ What a wonderful opportunity that was. Families read the wonderful words of the Declaration of Independence together again or for the first time. Different organizations, the Young Men and Young Women plus the Primary children's organization and even the older adults were given musical assignments or speaking parts. A gentleman from the Philippines played the part of George Washington.

The thing that impressed me,forever, was hearing him, in tears, say how he had never know the wonderful freedoms that he owned as an American.

Freedom is essential to Life, Liberty and our pursuit of Happiness and many good men and women have sacrificed everything so that we can enjoy our daily lives. I love this day. I get to eat barbecue, enjoy my family members and shoot off fireworks. Thank-you G-ma’s and G-pa’s for coming to this country. You gave up all that was familiar to you so I could have this day in this country. I appreciate, love and celebrate you!

Mary Stanko Labovski, Martin Wolosuk , Charles Daniel Podrunchy, Mary Fred Dedanko, Daniel Charlie Podrunchny, Carry Lecker, Fred Dedanko, and Cassie Dedanko. You are my hero’s!
