My friend Candy Created A Fire Pit

Today, In the West we enjoyed National Hollerin day. In fact when my friend Candy came in late to work today, she was walking stiffly but had a smile on her face. Curious, I hollered, "What’s the story Candy?" This is what she told me.

"Walking around town for the past five years, I have been rescuing homeless bricks. I had a mental vision of a fire pit for my loved ones to gather around, to enjoy each other’s company and where we could toast marshmallows. Last weekend, with the help of friends and family members my dream came true."

Son, Austin with his friends dug the 8 foot pit. To make sure the weather didn’t make the fire pit into a swimming pool they also dug a 7 foot drainage channel. It lies underneath the fire pit.

“I used a large copper dish,” Candy said, “with a metal screen for the fire bowl and the seating is a collection of flag stones I either found in my yard or brought from Nevada with me.”

The result is a wonderful area for all her loved ones to enjoy without having to holler at one another.
