These People Grew America Strong

My friend and cousin, James Shanko, has been posting pictures of some of the places of our childhood in Virginia that brings back memories of this lovely place and the people I grew up with. It’s hard to believe that I’m now part of the older generation and that all of my beloved Aunties and Uncles have headstones with their names on them.

James created a Yale Virtual Cemetary at this link http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.417568567964.191626.719832964. He also posted the picture of the 2nd house that his grandparents,James and Viola Yecoshenko owned. The first house burned down and he tells the story of how it was at night when the first house burned, and one parent handed the children out the window to the other, then jumped out to escape the fire.

These wonderful people helped make America strong. I look forward to writing their stories.
